Intermediate Joomla! (B134)

The Intermediate Joomla! course provides information and instruction on extending Joomla! Students will become familiar with and learn how to update a website with Components, Modules, and Plug-ins. Students will learn about Breadcrumbs, Latest News, Newsflash, Images, and Search modules. Students will learn how to make their own Joomla! template.

Applicable Job Roles: webmasters, web programmers, and web application developers.

How Extensions (Components, Modules, and Plug-ins) work together
Creating and configuring menus
Installing and configuring templates

Week 2:

Modules that come with Joomla!
Components that come with Joomla!
Plug-ins that come with Joomla!

Week 3:

Adding extensions to Joomla!
Home page tips and tricks
Custom templates
Advanced templates and CSS tricks

Week 4:

Backing up sites
Restoring and moving sites
Upgrading sites
Training your clients

Prerequisites

Introduction to Joomla! course or equivalent. In addition, students should have some familiarity with html and a basic understanding of the term 'database'.

Requirements

Must have a functioning web server (with Joomla! installed) which has PHP 4.3 or later, has Zlib, and MySQL 3.23.x on or with Unicode character sets MySQL from 4.1.x on.
